Romanishin



Ukrainian Oleg Romanishin was born on 10 January 1952 in Lviv. His peak World Ranking is 5th (January 1975). He was considered to be one of the best ten chess players of the world from 1974 to 1975. According to Chessmetrics his highest rating is 2735.
He participated in six Chess Olympiads from 1978 to 2000. First he represented the Soviet Union in 1978 and won team silver medal. After a six year break he participated again from 1992 competing for Ukraine. He won team silver medal in 1996 and team bronze medal in 1998 and 2000. He did not win individual medals.
Interesting facts:
His playing style is considered to be aggressive due to his early training. First he was trained by Viktor Kart (a trainer at the Lviv Sports Academy) and later by senior master and former World Champion Mihail Tal who was famous of his attacking chess.
