Arshak Petrosyan (1953–), is an Armenian (formerly Soviet) chess player,

coach, Grandmaster (1984). In 1975 he graduated from the Faculty of History of the Philosophy Department, a philosopher by profession, Doctor of Philosophy.

Since 1996, Armenia’s national team coach. He has led the team to unprecedented achievements in becoming Olympic, world and European champion. In June 2006,

he led Armenia to win the 37th World Olympiad in Turin. He and the team members were awarded with the medal of Movses Khorenatsi. Two years later, he repeated his

success in Dresden, Armenia became the 38th World Chess Olympiad champion. He and the members of the team for victory were awarded with the medal ‘For Service to

Motherland’. In recent years, mainly lives in Hungary being a coach for GM Peter Lékó. His daughter, Sofia Petrosyan, is the Hungarian Grandmaster, Peter Lékó’s wife.
