Kupreichik
Viktor Davidovich Kupreichik (3 July 1949 - ) is a Belarusian chess Grandmaster.
In 1968, in Ybbs, he won an individual gold medal at the 15th World Student Team Chess Championship. In 1972 and 2003 he won the Belarusian Chess Championship.
In 1980, he got the International Grandmaster title.
He won the Wijk aan Zee Tournament in 1977. At Kirovakan 1978, Reykjavík 1980, Plovdiv 1980, and Medina del Campo 1980 he also finished first place and triumphed at the Hastings International Chess Congress in 1981/82. Kupreichik represents the real fighting chess; it was common that he led the table in the early stages of the tournaments then he got tired and lost heavily in the last few rounds, like at the Soviet Championship in 1979 and 1980, when he won 5 consecutive games but finished sixth on both occasions.
According to Chessmetrics, his highest rating has been 2685.
His niece, Anastasia Sorokina is a female chess Grandmaster.
