Czech chess player Oldřich Duras was born on 30 October 1882. His peak World Ranking was 4th (in August 1909). According to Chessmetrics his highest rating is 2743. He was considered to be one of the best 10 chess players between 1906 and 1911. He never won the World Championship and did not play World Championship matches either. He did not participate in any Chess Olympiads.

Interesting facts:

For his achievements in chess at the beginning of the 20th century he was awarded with the International Grandmaster title by FIDE, when it was introduced in 1950. He was also an acknowledged chess composer.

He died on 5 January 1957 in Prague.
