Donner



Dutch chess player Jan Hein (Johannes Hendrikus) Donner was born on 6 July 1927 in Hague. His peak World Ranking was 45th (in three different months between November 1965 and June 1966). According to Chessmetrics his highest rating is 2622.
He participated in eleven Chess Olympiads between 1950 and 1978 competing for the Dutch team. In spite of the several occasions he won only two individual silver medals in 1950 and 1952, and a team silver medal in 1976.

About his several nicknames he once said: “My name is J. H. Donner, 'Hein' for friends. 'JanHein' was an unseemly joke of malicious sport journalists, but that's not my name, it never was and it never will be.” (Wikipedia)
He died on 27 November 1988 of a gastric haemorrhage at the age of 61.
